VALUES ISSUES
Did you ever notice that the same people that told you the "exit polls that showed Kerry winning the 2004 election were crap"....
...were the same people telling you that you right wingers won the election because of "VALUE ISSUES" based on EXIT POLLS??
I just love that fact. You should be outraged even though you root for them because they think you're so stupid that you will believe anything they throw at you.
Trust me, they're laughing at you almost daily while stealing your money and your basic rights.
"Values Issues" seems to be a giant sell when it's campaign time. I really don't have much to address because values are different for everyone's perspective. But if you take a real hard look at the people who talk the loudest about values... you will see a BUNCH of hypocrisy. I bet to Pat Robertson, values issues has a lot to do with "God in the classroom" and nothing to do with stealing money that was supposed to go to starving people and instead spending it on diamond mining equipment in Africa to make yourself a millionaire.
Anyway...
I'll spend a brief time discussing the BIG TWO values issues that always seem to come out in every election.
Abortion and Gay Marriage (rights)
So lets get a "liberal" opinion of those issues.....
THE ABORTION ISSUE
This is an issue with no "right or wrong" answer. It comes down to each person's views on what they think right and wrong is. That's why some leading republicans are allowed to be pro-choice.
My own view, you'll be happy to know is more like you Republicans than the Democrats. Unfortunately, you won't be happy because it has nothing to do with religion.
Deep down I am one of those truly bleeding heart liberals who cares about everything. I wouldn't hurt a fly. Somewhere down the line it became uncool and the mark of a "wacko" to not want to hurt or kill things. But that's me. An uncool wacko. I am against Capitol Punishment, hurting animals, hurting the environment and to me, it also includes hurting babies who haven't been born yet. Do I feel strongly enough to make it a major issue of mine? Not really because I am a male and I could never have an idea what its like to carry a baby and I think majority of women should have that vote. However, whether legal or not, I know that its just wrong to use abortion for a convenient form of birth control because someone's too irresponsible to use protection. It IS killing a life. Maybe not as important as a grown human life (maybe it is) but - again- personally, I can't support killing of any kind
That said, again I must say that's MY opinion and I will never force it on anyone.
My only question to Republicans is this ..
Why do so many of you say abortion is killing a human life and are so emotionally against it but say it's ok to murder a human life when the mother was raped? What the heck did that kid ever do to deserve execution?
Well in the end I'm against abortion (one of the reasons I'm not a democrat.. I just like having all my own opinions rather than having my team give them to me)
Do I feel so strongly about it that I would tell someone else what they should think is right and wrong?

GAY MARRIAGE DEBATE
- Do you think that being gay is a choice?
- Do you think you could wake up tomorrow and DECIDE to be attracted to people
of your sex? And decide to be turned off by the opposite sex? And do you think
that gay people can wake up tomorrow and be attracted to the opposite sex?
- If you see two couples in an airport and one is a straight couple kissing
goodbye (which is normal) and the other is a gay couple kissing goodbye (which
would be revolting to you), Would you view that kiss as "forcing homosexuality
down peoples throats"? Why would you say that wanting to kiss goodbye
like that without fear of attack is deemed special rights and not equal rights?
- Why would having 2 women or men marry bother you or affect your marriage
in any way?
- Please explain how gay marriage would open the door for marrying anyone
(Such as marrying your sister or a dog) when there are already laws preventing
this gay and straight?
- If your son is straight (attracted to people of the opposite sex) and he
sees that people that are gay can marry and he sees gay married couples -
what do you think are the chances that he will decide to marry another guy?
- Do you think someone that is gay could talk you into being
attracted to the same sex? Do you think they could do it to your kids?
- Do you think that someone who is attracted to the same sex, and has never
had sex is a sinner? Why?
- Do you think that all those marriage based reality TV shows and the sexual
practices of half of congress (not to mention the one day Brittany Spears
marriage) have done less damage to the "moral fibre of marriage"
than if a gay couple who were in love wanted to marry?
-There are many people that biologically cant have kids (gay
and straight). Do you think all of them should be banned from being able to
marry because they cant procreate?
-Why do gays want to destroy traditional marriage? And how would they accomplish
this by getting married themselves.
I'm asking these questions to better understand why there's so much hatred
and attacks. Let me know what you think. Please try to avoid just quoting
scriptures from the bible, I could find a dozen reasons you should be stoned
to death and burn in hell for eating half of the what's on the menu at Burger
King on sunday morning after church. ANYONE can selectively use the bible
to make it seem like someone is sinning against God. Try not to in this case.
And don't just say "because its wrong" or "because its sick"
I really would like to hear complete thoughts to why is sick ( besides the
God thing) if its "morally wrong"... what aspect makes it that way?

My own feeling is that its a combination of reasons for so much hatred:
1- There is something that is similar to the feeling when a spider is on you.
"it's different, Its scary, Its disgusting - squash it." You know
you are grossed out by the thoughts of having sex with another of the same
sex and when you see that you just cant imagine how they could possibly do
it (believe it or not there are gays who feel the same way about thoughts
of sex with the opposite sex). It grosses you out so much for reasons you
cant explain that you cant be around it at all. There are MANY guys who LOVE
lesbians because its two girls whom they are attracted to , but hate men that
are gay because its sick. Both couples are gay but you will only hate the
guys because its your feeling of being grossed out by having sex with another
guy. These are normal feelings and impossible to explain.
2- Religion supplies the convenient excuse to hate them. Because there is
no good explanation they find a book that explains exactly why they must feel
this way. So they ignore the parts about what foods you cant eat and about
how to treat slaves and women and who should be put to death etc but they
can select the parts about homosexuality because that will let them "squash
that spider" without having to justify it.
3- there are 6 billion people in the world. Using FAR less than the actual
percentage of gays - lets say only 1% are gay. That's 60 million gay people.
Out of that number of people, what do they show on TV? They show the parades
where the guys dress up in mascara feathers and wear leather pants with no
bottoms in them. They only show the extreme activists or the teacher that
molested his students. You see sitcoms and tv shows where the gay is stereotypically
feminine and sex driven and doesn't have any normal thoughts. This is what
is bring presented to you as "gay". There are gay people that are
everywhere - Police officers, athletes, bankers, teachers, firemen, coal miners
etc etc etc.. Most of them you would never guess were gay until they told
you. But that's not what you see on TV. You see what they present as gays.
Now THAT is what i call an agenda being forced down someone's throats. When
you close your eyes and think of gay people do you see 2 flaming effeminate
guys in leather and makeup kissing in public, or do you see some idiot cutting
his lawn getting then getting ready go to to work pumping gas or fighting
crime?
I've probably wasted my time because peoples minds are made up for the most
part but I'd really like to get someone to address some of those questions
without using the bible.
